This printing ink is used in packaging materials of food & beverage, pharmaceuticals and cosmetic. While using any kind of printing ink there are certain considerations that are taken into account such as the chemical compatibility, the speed of printing, and the final product. The different types of flexographic printing ink are:
- Water based-They have higher surface tension and used in corrugated packaging.
- Solvent based-These inks are made up of alcohols, acetates and pigments. They are commonly used in plastic bags printing.
- Oil based-They are made up of hydrocarbons and pigments. They are commonly seen in publication printings.
Plastic bags are used in various purpose such as for
shopping, carrying materials and food items. It is essential that the ink used
in such plastic bags should not be toxics. Plastic bag ink is printed through flexographic printing process as
it requires that as it is spread over it, it should get dried quickly. One
important fact that should be taken care of is that the ink used for plastic
bags should not concentrate on the substance of the bags.
